Fall Sports
Congratulations to our fall sports athletes. Yesterday at the district cross country meet we had several runners run a personal best time. Congratulations runners on a great season!
Tomorrow our varsity volleyball is in a league play-off game in gym 1 against Cascade at 2pm. The girls played four tough games last night against Stayton to break the tie between NM and Stayton for 3rd. Good luck again tomorrow girls!
Tomorrow both our boys and girls soccer teams will be playing in league play-off games. After the girl's win last night to prevent a 4-way tie in league, they will travel tomorrow to play Molalla at 1pm. The girls are in an tough 11 team district. The boys soccer team will host Estacada tomorrow at 3pm on the varsity field. Earlier this season North Marion boys beat Estacada when they played at home, and lost when they played at Estacada. Basketball Ratings and other info
There seems to be a confusion about our girls basketball team ratings, so hopefully this information will help…
After the girl's win on Tuesday against Cascade, our varsity girls and boys basketball teams have played all six of the of the other teams in our league (Capital Conference) once. Our girls have won all six of those games. So at this point in time, based on their win/loss records in the league they are #1 in the Capital Conference. In the next few weeks (starting with Friday's game with La Salle) the girls and boys basketball teams will play all of the other six teams in the conference again. As each team in the conference plays another and one team wins while another loses the standings among the teams in the Capital Conference will change until all teams have played each other twice.
Since we are a large conference, we will send three Capital Conference basketball teams to the state play-offs to play other teams across the state. Based on win/loss records in the Capital Conference the #1 and #2 teams will go directly into state play-off games. The #3 has to play and win at least one other league play-off game before going on to play another team in the state play-offs.
There are other ratings that rank the 41 4A teams (schools with a student population of 401-850 students) across the state. Most of these are computer generated, and include win/loss records along with other data to come up with a ranking system. You can go to the link below to find out more information about those ratings. These ratings do not rate the 41 teams the same way, so where North Marion is ranked depends on the type of rating scale used.
http://www.oregonprepsports.net/girls-basketball/2007-8-ratings/Oregon/4A/conf_w_desc.html
Thank you all who came to the basketball games on Tuesday to support our high school students! The girls played well against Cascade. The varsity boys played a really tough game that went into overtime against Cascade.
Our wrestlers and swimmers have their district meets coming up on February 8th/9th. The wrestling meet will be held at Cascade High School and the swim meet will be held in Hood River.
Our varsity cheerleaders will perform at the state competition on Saturday February 9th at Memorial Coliseum.
Thanks again to our North Marion community and their support for our students.
